Eating in NOLA:

Boucherie lives on Jeannette. Lots of people love Boucherie -- like, really dig it. We had dinner there a few months ago and were not bowled over, but that didn't mean it wasn't worth another try. At least another try at lunch. Especially because I do like the tiny 12 hour roast beef po-boys they serve out of that purple truck.



Kerry had the white peppercorn smoked scallops with sweet potatoes and a Steen's Molasses Veloute (just gonna pretend I know what that means). The scallops were huge and cooked perfectly, and the mashed potatoes beneath were roasted and topped with scallions to create a savory accompaniment rather than cloyingly sweet (which sometimes happens with sweet potatoes). The dish came with some fried ginger on top, which was crunchy and flavorful and not something we'd seen before. Seems like the new trend is serving seafood with sweet potatoes. It seems weird to me, but I guess people smarter than me know what they are doing.

Either way I think it's fair to say Boucherie redeemed itself in our eyes. Definitely a good place for lunch.

Day four of our journey brings us to Lakeview for a poboy.  A Koz's poboy to be exact.  Koz's doesn't play around.  They sell their poboys by the loaf, and to the best of my knowledge they don't give you a t-shirt or anything if you finish it.


Now it was recommended I get the the BBQ beef poboy.  After the Joint yesterday I wasn't sure I could handle it so I want with the 8 inch Cheeseburger poboy.  They also sell a french fry poboy at Koz's but when I asked for some french fries on my cheeseburger poboy I was looked at like I should get the hell out.  Whatever though because it was delicious.  And after I took a few bite of it I took this picture.  I took it with my phone... just for old times sake.


Though I skipped the BBQ beef, my roommate had it and gave it his seal of approval.  He's going to be a doctor one day so I feel like he can be trusted.

An 8 inch poboy at Koz'swill run you $7.50 or so depending on the type.

After 4 days of stuffing myself on lunch specials I think I'm going to have to track down a salad for tomorrow's post.  If you know of good place post a comment or use the information under the nifty new Contact tab up there on the left.

Koz sounds like a killer clown.  Just saying.

So in celebration of finishing our first year of our MBA we went right from our Process Modeling final to Milk Bar over on Prytania near Delachaise. It was our first time there and it was good. Its run by a few Australians who know how to make a Thai Chilli Chicken Po-Boy.



That's what we had and you can see the description above and the Po-Boy below. It was bug and was enough for about a meal and a half. It was an interesting combination but it really was as good as it looked.


AND they give you Chupa Chup with your sandwich... thats just classy.


And afterward we drove down to Creole Creamery and got some good stuff. Kerry got Cotton Candy Ice Cream because she said it reminded her of summer.


I got Bananas Foster. I know its a weird picture below but I noticed when I was uploading it it had a pretty good shot of the water meter.


So we are done with our first year, and this is around the 5 month aniversery of this blog. And it's someone's birthday today... stay tuned for the post about what we ate at my party last night.

Well it has been while since we posted. We have been busy. Mainly with school but also with French Quarter Fest like everyone else. So why not a festival food post? Evey one loves New Orleans festival food and we are no exception. We got a few pretty good things too.

We chose Love at First Bite on Friday when we went to see Soul Rebels on the waterfront. This is what the people that worked there looked like.


And this is what the food looked like. Crawfish Pasta for KM and I had a Cochon de Lait po-boy for me. Maybe the best po-boy I've ever had. There was so much pig in it I almost felt guilty.


Saturday we met up with some fellow MBA's and drank a few drinks and listened to a little music, but also ate some shrimp. Like this shrimp with cheddar and bacon grits from Saltwater Grill.

AND... these "shrimp" skewers from Bubba Gump's. I like that in New Orleans Shrimp Skewers come with Andoullie.

So... sorry for a delayed post but it should be a good warm up for Jazz Fest posts. I'll probably live blog via my phone so that should be really really exciting for everyone. Tell your friends and see you there. And more posts soon I promise.

After a great time at Bacchus Ball Last night (and a whole day of Popeye's that we spared you the posts about) we woke up pretty hungry on Lundi Gras.


What better place to have a Lundi Gras lunch than Crabby Jacks over on Jefferson?


Kerry had a craving for a Shrimp Po-Boy. It was full of shrimp. Like real full of shrimp. I don't want to say too many shrimp but the bread couldn't contain all of the little suckers. She said it was pretty good especially with some of the salsa from my....


Fish Tacos. They were real good and I ate them all. I'm going to have to make sure I take my dad when he comes into town. I assume tonight might be a parade food night so I'll try to remember to take a few pictures. So look for a parade food post on Mardi Gras.
