Magazine Street Blues Festival

So no more of those catch up posts. This post is going up before the Magazine Street Blues Fest is even over.

Obviously we have a festival or two here every weekend but this really was a good one. If you happen to be reading this right after it is posted (I know you stay glued to your laptops waiting for the nest EIN post) then go catch the last few hours.

On to the important part though. First Butter Chicken from from Nirvana. This was go good I went right home and looked for Butter Chicken recipies to make tomorrow.

And some fresh cut fries from Boucherie. Topped with some spicy vinegar... these were pretty incredible too. I was too full to try it, but I got a look at the 12 hour beef brisket po-boy... it looked so good I can't even talk about it.

Hey and Soul Rebels were there. I love Soul Rebels.

Wednesday at the Square

So we hit up Wednesday at the Square on... well Wednesday. It was pretty good there. We ran into a bunch of people we know and got a free beer from one of our friends manning the beer table.

Oh and we ate some food! Kerry had some fish tacos. I think it was a set of 3 for $6. I'm not sure where they were from actually (but I was just informed they were from Zoe at the W) but here is what they looked like in 2d.

I had some Ginger Boiled Shrimp in Sweet Soy Sauce from Saltwater Grill and a Smoked Sausage from Pull My Pork (website? No.). Both were kind unimpressive. As you can see below the shrimp were on some shredded lettuce for some reason. The sausage had cold slaw on it which I liked the idea of but it was too spicy and I'm not normally a wimp when it comes to spice.

In general the food seemed over priced. When i mentioned this to a friend there I was reminded its all for charity. So I guess that makes it ok. Regardless I'm pretty sure we'll be back next week for Trombone Shorty.

Jazz Fest

I know, I know. I gave a bunch of big talk about live blogging Jazz Fest food. It didn't happen, but here's what I can do for you. One picture of crawfish beignets. They were from... I don't remember where they were from but they were really good.

I know I shirked my duty. I didn't even take pictures of everything. There was a Cochon du Lait po-boy and a fried oyster spinach salad consumed that I didn't even get the camera out for.

If you are looking for a better Jazz Fest post then check out this post and these pictures from this guy you might know. Oh and look, we have similar tastes!

French Quarter Fest

Well it has been while since we posted. We have been busy. Mainly with school but also with French Quarter Fest like everyone else. So why not a festival food post? Evey one loves New Orleans festival food and we are no exception. We got a few pretty good things too.

We chose Love at First Bite on Friday when we went to see Soul Rebels on the waterfront. This is what the people that worked there looked like.

And this is what the food looked like. Crawfish Pasta for KM and I had a Cochon de Lait po-boy for me. Maybe the best po-boy I've ever had. There was so much pig in it I almost felt guilty.

Saturday we met up with some fellow MBA's and drank a few drinks and listened to a little music, but also ate some shrimp. Like this shrimp with cheddar and bacon grits from Saltwater Grill.

AND... these "shrimp" skewers from Bubba Gump's. I like that in New Orleans Shrimp Skewers come with Andoullie.

So... sorry for a delayed post but it should be a good warm up for Jazz Fest posts. I'll probably live blog via my phone so that should be really really exciting for everyone. Tell your friends and see you there. And more posts soon I promise.

Family Gras - Part 2

As promised a second Family Gras post.

We expected to have some pictures of food to show... but we ate too much earlier (more on that later) and didn't end up getting any thing there. So you know... here's a picture of a daiquiri. Its almost food... its a semi solid.

We took in a Better Than Ezra show which was pretty fantastic and we took this picturer during it and Kerry is at least as happy as she looks.

Family Gras - Part One

We went to Family Gras in Metairie yesterday and saw Sara Bareilles. We ate here I promise. I forgot to take pictures of the food... Here is a nice picture of us though.

Just trust me when I tell you Kerry had some oysters (char-grilled I believe) and some crawfish etouffee (funny side note Blogger doesn't recognize "crawfish" or "etouffee" as words) and I had a meatball po-boy and it was delicious.

We are going back today to see Better Than Ezra today and I'll remember to take pictures this time.
