I Made Some Meatballs

So this is what I ate the last few days. You would be surprised how long 2 pounds of meatballs will last. It was my first time making meatballs. It was pretty easy. Just some beef, bread crumbs, egg, garlic, and basil.

I mixed it all up and then rolled them and put them in a pan until they looked like this.

And as you can see above I like meatball subs so I added some overpriced tomato sauce and made the sandwich you see above.

In the end it wasn't a bad first attempt. Plus like I said, they lasted a few days so it was a gift that kept on giving.

Mat Murphy Event

So we like to think of this blog as having something of its own readership. But alas, the cold hard truth is if you read Eating in NOLA there is just as good a chance as not that you linked here from Blackened Out or Appetites.

That being said our analytics say (HA! we've been tracking you all along!) that about 65% of our readers are in the greater New Orleans area. So on the off chance you didn't see this post on Blackened Out a few days ago, go check it out.

If for some reason you don't trust the link (come on, we have never lied to you before) then the gist of it is as follows...

Chef Mat Murphy the executive chef at the Ritz was diagnosed with a pretty serious infection a few weeks ago and is still in the hospital. The Ritz is putting on a fundraiser to help support his family which includes his wife, 18 month quadruplet daughters and a baby on the way.

Rather than try to give a lot of information we aren't really privy to, check out the Blackened Out post and the Murphy's website. What we can let you know about is the fundraiser info, including the ridiculous list of restaurants doing tastings and the incredibly reasonable ticket price of $65.

Restaurants in attendance:

555 Restaurant, Antoine's, Bacco, Bayona, Besh Restaurant Group, Bourbon House, Cafe Giovanni, Chateau de Lac, Cochon, Commander's Palace, Cuvee and Rambala, Emeril's Delmonico, Folse, Galatoire's, Herbsaint, La Cote Brasserie, La Petite Grocery, Maurice's Pastries, Mila, Muriel's, Ralph's on the Park, Redfish Grill, Ritz Carlton, Stella! and Stanley, Sucre, Trump Chicago, Vizzard's and more.

Location: The Ritz

Date/Time: Sunday June

Price: $65

Call for Reservations: 504-670-2828

It's a rare chance for us to give back to the New Orleans restaurant community that we are so appreciative of. So spend a Sunday night supporting an important cause. Good Luck to Mat and his family.
